Description
This oil painting started life “en plein air”, standing on the rocky river bank of a river which flows into the upper Severn. It’s a beautiful spot in a quiet rural village.
In fact, my painting day started in a spectacular fashion, as I slipped on a rock by the river and ended sitting up to my waist in cold river water! I had to drive back home, soaking wet and sitting on a carrier bag. Then I changed into dry clothes and drove straight back. It was definitely one of my more memorable painting sessions! I did not finish the painting within the day, so came back to it several times in the studio, using a photo as a reference.
My art tutor that day was Daniel Yeomans, an amazingly talented portrait and landscape artist. You can see more of his work here- https://danieljamesyeomans.com/
